Book of Revelation
The Book of Revelation almost wasn't included in the Bible. The Fathers of the church were worried that people would misuse the book and twist it to make Christianity look weird. If only they knew...
It's great that it finally made the cut. It is about power politics, international trade, how to pick good and bad religion, living through hard times, patience, courage and love, finding the life of blessing God has for us, oh yeah - and about the final shout for human history when Jesus is seen as the Omega it is all pointing towards.
It's a book of many things. It kept the church alive through fierce trauma when it was first delivered. It has frightened evil regimes throughout history and encouraged those they try to suppress. It explains so much of what is happening in our day, and it points forward to an awesome future. If only we had a way to make sense of it......
